The variety of PVC windows can make your head spin. There are many shapes, colours and technical parameters to choose from. PVC windows also differ in terms of price. How much does a PVC window cost? Below we will outline approximate purchase prices of selected and recommended solutions.
How much is a PVC window?
Choosing windows is not such a simple matter, especially for those who appreciate unusual solutions. Uniqueness has its price. You will pay more for fancy shapes and colours than for a standard PVC window. If you want to limit your expenses, consider the purchase beforehand. Those who are just planning to build a house are in the best situation. This is a good time to consider the glazing of the building, i.e. the number of windows.
What does the price of PVC windows depend on?
In fact, there are many factors that affect the cost of windows. The most important of these are:
- The material from which the windows are made - differences in the price of windows are most often due to the material from which they are made. PVC is currently the cheapest material. PVC windows will always be cheaper than aluminium or timber joinery. This is largely due to the availability of materials, as well as the specifics of processing ( timber, for example, requires more advanced manufacturing procedures and better technological facilities). All this affects the price.
- Size and shape of the window - these are other factors that determine the final price. Traditional rectangular or square-shaped windows will be significantly cheaper than windows with unusual shapes, such as those that end in arches. This is due to the fact that they require more work to manufacture. For obvious reasons, the larger the window, the higher the price, as more material has to be used to manufacture it.
- Degree of advanced construction - in this case, the price is determined by the various additional solutions that have been applied to a particular window model. For example, for windows with a higher UV coefficient for the frame, with more chambers or number of glass panes, you will obviously pay slightly more. However, it is important to remember that this investment will provide us with much better thermal comfort.
- Additional equipment and finishing - any additional elements, such as anti-burglary locks (handle with a key) or anti-theft fittings, used in windows also have their price, but they also influence the ease of use or safety of the window joinery.
- Window colour - we often are not aware of this, but the colour of the windows can also affect their final cost. For obvious reasons, windows in standard colours will be slightly cheaper than models with unusual colours, which require special preparation during the manufacturing process.

PVC windows price
Many people dream of elegant and stylish timber windows or very modern aluminium windows. However, when comparing their prices with those of PVC windows, you will notice a considerable difference. You will pay the most for timber windows. This is due to the time-consuming production process. The price of aluminium windows will be slightly lower, but the cheapest solution will undoubtedly be plastic windows. In their case, the price of windows is directly related to the class of profiles from which they are made and the fittings which are used.
How much does a PVC window cost per square metre?
Today, most window joinery is made up of made-to-measure windows. Their prices are no longer calculated per square metre as they used to be, as many other factors besides the size influence the price. The shape and colour (as we mentioned earlier), the type of glazing used and additional equipment such as: the type of hardware, mounting profiles, ventilators, handles, gaskets or sills.
At Aikon Distribution, we calculate the price of windows using a modern, in-house system. This allows us to price even the most complicated and unusual constructions.

Do you have to pay extra for the colour of the window?
The colour of the window frames is not without influence on the price. White profiles are the cheapest option. If you decide on coloured veneer or veneer imitating timber, you have to reckon with a higher expense. The price also depends on whether both sides of the window will be veneered, or just one (internal or external). The choice of colour depends only on your taste and financial possibilities, because there are really many options.

Method of opening
Before ordering a window it is worth considering exactly how you will use it in the future. If you're installing a multi-sash window, you should consider whether you'll need one with a movable mullion, or whether it's enough for just one sash to open and the other to be fixed. The price of the windows also depends on whether you choose a tilt and turn window or just a tilt window. Choosing balcony windows requires special consideration. Before you make a decision, you should consider the future arrangement of the room in which they will be placed. It may turn out that we do not have enough space for casement windows, the price will be higher, but in such a case a sliding window will be a better solution.

Additional equipment
The final price of the windows is also influenced by the additional equipment chosen. We will have to pay extra for such amenities as e.g. a handle with a key, mounting profiles, muntins or anti-burglary fittings. The amount to be paid will also be higher if we decide on various types of ventilators improving air circulation inside the room where the window is installed. However, the price goes hand in hand with the quality and comfort of use, so it is worth considering a greater expense in terms of additional equipment.
