Triangular and trapezoidal windows

Triangular and trapezoidal windows

blog | 18.09.2023

Triangular and trapezoidal windows are a very striking feature of modern houses. The form of trapezoid and triangular windows makes it possible to use them on the entire gable wall of the house, and they also blend in very well with the pitched roof structure, forming a coherent composition with the body of the house. Triangular and trapezoidal windows are also very popular in architectural designs stylised as "modern barns".

Thanks to the use of this type of atypical construction, more sunlight reaches the interior. In addition, triangular and trapezoidal windows add a unique style - both inside and outside the building.

Technological requirements

As we mentioned, triangular and trapezoidal windows look ideal when installed at the top of a building. However, it is worth remembering that there are certain technological requirements to which these types of window structures are subject. When designing a house with slanted windows, it is important to pay attention to the measure of acute angles - the greater their value, the easier they will be to manufacture. The acute angle jointing of profiles in trapezoidal windows should be a minimum of 60 degrees.

Trapezoidal windows

Trapezoidal windows, as the name suggests, are trapezoidal in shape i.e. a quadrilateral with at least one pair of parallel sides. They differ from traditional rectangular or square windows by their original design and unusual form. Trapezoid windows are not strictly connected or associated with a particular design trend. Such a model may be chosen for any decorated house or flat. However, such a frame is most often installed in the attic. The second situation, when such a frame is often installed, are windows in a large, non-standard size for the whole or almost the whole wall (usually on the ground floor of a detached house).

Triangular windows

Triangular windows are a proposition - like trapezoidal windows - not associated with any particular style in construction or interior design. Triangular windows blend in well with pitched roofs. They are most often used in residential buildings with a pitched roof slope structure, so they can often be seen on gable walls or as attic natural light. They are usually found on their own - as the only window in the attic - or in sets of different configurations, such as two triangular windows and a trapezoidal window.

Price of triangular and trapezoid windows

Triangular and trapezoidal windows delight, that much is certain. But what is the price we will have to pay for such a non-standard solution?

The price of both triangular and trapezoidal windows depends on a number of factors:

  • the size of the entire structure
  • the material used (PVC, aluminium, timber)
  • the type of glazing package used
  • accessories
  • colour.
